Winter Classes for 2016
Updated: October 20, 2016
The Alaska Central Chapter will be putting on two advanced classes this winter. The
first will be focused on structural steel welding and bolting inspections. The second will
be sprinkler system testing and inspection. Both are multiple day classes, but provide
an immense amount of information for the industry and for code officials and inspectors.
Structural Steel Welding and Bolting Inspection will take place December 5-6, 2016 at
the Planning and Development Center, 4700 Elmore Road. The two-day course will
cover the scope of inspections for structural steel from the standpoint of the IBC, AISC,
and AWS requirements. The course will be taught by Robert "Bob" Shaw, P.E., of the
Steel Structures Technology Center. The SSTC provides the industry with consulting
services, technical resources, and education relating to steel-framed structures.
Class registration is open now. Cost for the two-day course is $360.00, and includes
lunch on both days.

inspecting and testing of sprinkler systems under NFPA 25. The class is being provided
by the National Fire Sprinkler Association, an industry association dedicated to fire
protection through education and advocacy.
Class registration is open now. Registration fees for the three-day course are $695.00,
and includes lunch for all three days, and a copy of NFPA 25. Companies that want to
